Supply List for English 2019-20
Everyone needs:
1. 3-ring binder (1 ½” or 2”) This needs to be a separate binder for only English class.
2. Spiral bound notebook
3. Pens/pencils
The items below will be turned in for all students to use. Everyone will share these 6 items throughout the year. If you do not want to turn these in as shared items, you are responsible for having all of them with you every day. We will be doing projects, annotating, and highlighting many articles and passages, and using these supplies often.
Block 1/2- thin tip/skinny markers and scissors
Block 3/4- thick markers and 2 glue sticks
Block 6/7- colored pencils and 2 highlighters

ELA Curriculum: General, Honors, and Advanced OverviewClark-Pleasant Middle School believes that all students need to be challenged academically to reach their fullest potential. One aspect of Clark-Pleasant’s academic program includes HA (high ability) classes in both seventh and eighth grade English Language Arts. High ability activities consist of greater depth of content, accelerated teaching pace, extended work outside of class, independent learning, increased individual responsibility, and a willingness to persevere through challenging work. Grade 8 ELA Curriculum-In eighth grade English, students will read a wide variety of literature Additionally, students will write essays in response to literature and will produce informative and argumentative papers. Grammar activities will emphasize the skills listed in the Indiana Academic Standards, and the vocabulary focus will include weekly SAT words and ELA academic vocabulary. Students will also participate in “sustained-silent reading” (SSR) and will be given time each week to read books of their choice. |
